Local Area Network Cable Colour Coding

Now a days we are using Local Area Networks (LAN) to connect Computer systems and other devices, (Within 100 Mtrs distance upto 100 Mbps Speed)
Mainly these LAN cables are classified in these types:

  1. Copper cables
    1. Coaxial cable
      1. Thin net (10 base 2)
      2. Thick net (10 base 2)
    2. Twisted pair
      1. UTP (Unshielded twisted pair)
      2. STP (Shielded twisted pair)
  2. Fiber optic cable
    1. SM (Single mode)
    2. MM (Multi Mode)
      1. Step index multimode
      2. Graded index multi mode fiber

Present days we are using UTP Cables For Local Area Networks (LAN).
To prepare UTP LAN Cable commonly LAN Cable:
Requirements:
UTP Cable
RJ-45 Connectors (2 PC)
Crimping Tool

Procedure:
The UTP cable contains Four twisted pairs,
Assume the ends of the cable as END1 and END2
Pair-1 : Blue, Blue & White
Pair-2 : Brown, Brown & White
Pair-3 : Orange, Orange & White
Pair-4 : Green, Green & White

Peel out the UTP Cable at both ends (about 3 cm), Untwist the pairs,
Color Coding:
Arrange the small cables of UTP cable at END1 in Left to right as following order
1. White & Orange
2. Orange
3. White & Green
4. Blue
5. White & Blue
6. Green
7. White & Brown
8. Brown

Arrange the small cables of UTP cable at END2 in Left to right as following order
1. White & Green
2. Green
3. White & Orange
4. Blue
5. White & Blue
6. Orange
7. White & Brown
8. Brown

Insert the Each end in RJ-45 Connector as it is, and Crimp them carefully
these ends are interchangeable.

Now the LAN Cable is Ready to use.
